Bristol OpenCoffee - Update
Well Bristol OpenCoffee VII did not exactly attract a vast number of attendees. Maybe the time and venue change made it more difficult for people to attend. However all was not lost as I had the opportunity to cast my eye over the new eoffice in Bristol. The facility is first rate and they have incorporated some nice design features. I think this will be a great venue for future more structured OpenCoffee events (more on that later).
I had an interesting chat with the eoffice CEO, Pier Paulo Mucelli, he is very keen to support local networking/technology events in Bristol, including OpenCoffee.
As a result of my meeting with Pier, it got me thinking about how to improve the attendance of OpenCoffee and make it more interesting not just to techies/geeks but also other people. So the format will change in so much that I hope to get people along to give informal chats/presentations and then after that break out for the more informal Coffee/beer/water.
Eoffice have pledged support by offering us the use of their conferencing facility all I need to do is get people along that want to socialise and maybe give a presentation/share their experiences.
If you are interested in participating at future OpenCoffee gatherings then please do leave me a message here and I will get in touch with you. Alternatively if you want to give me a hand organising future OpenCoffee gatherings then please let me know.
In the meantime whilst I sort out all the changes, Bristol OpenCoffee will still run in the usual format at the Watershed Cafe/Bar. I plan to have the next one on Thursday 16th August at 1800 Hrs. Details as usual will be posted on Upcoming and the OpenCoffee Club website.
I look forward to seeing you.

the problem with the location was (it seemed to me) the doors were shut after 6pm when I finished work meaning I couldn’t get in.
The idea of trying to get more than us geeks along is good but we need to go about trying to get them along a different way as mainly “us geeks” use the net and know our way round a hell of a lot better than the average person who made need a web geek or general PC geeks help.
Always willing to help when I can, look forward to the 18th.

Hi Alex, thanks for responding. To be honest by 6pm I had call it a day. I had been waiting around since 4pm
I agree getting non technical people along is difficult hence why I am trying to do something different to attract them in.
Thanks for your support
